Studio City Private Residence

With little usable backyard space, the owners of this quaint Monterey Colonial Revival home engaged Segal Shuart to design a front yard that provided the outdoor amenities they were lacking. Preserving a visual connection to the adjacent LA River and hills beyond while creating a buffer from the street, we created a landscape that offers a series of outdoor rooms with a clean lines yet loose planting. A new jogging set of entry steps yields more usable space, and a partial extension of the front arcade creates a shaded sitting area.
