Calabasas Private Residence

Segal Shuart was honored to reinvent the overgrown and dilapidated landscape at Frank Gehry’s Benson House in Calabasas. In keeping with the original minimalist palette of materials, our main focus for phase 1 of this project was to provide a safe and inviting entry into this unique home. Landscape ties with gravel between were used for the steps and wood retaining walls were used to create a terraced garden. Path lights were installed within the wood walls and up-lighting was strategically placed on specimen pine trees to enhance woodland garden experience. A palette of water-wise, partial shade and deer tolerant planting was chosen to provide a low maintenance garden.
